This petition is to protest and abolish the new 2012 fishing regulations concerning wild-caught bait fish in Kansas.

Under 115-7-3, "Wild-caught bait fish shall only be used on the body of water where taken." This regulation makes it impossible to use bluegill or green sun perch, which are ultimate flathead and channel cat fish bait in Kansas rivers. These perch bait fish species are scarcely populated in Kansas rivers.

Under this new regulation, trout line, limb line, and pole fishing anglers cannot acquire bait (other than certified bait at bait shops) or use inferior Kansas river live bait species for their lines.

Pre-regulation bait gathering practices were to go to farm ponds or even lakes to catch adequate amounts of bluegill, green perch or other non-nuisance perch species to bait a legal number of hooks for trout or limb lines. Under the new regulation, this can now no longer be legally done.

By signing this petition, you are against 2012 fishing regulations concerning wild-caught bait fish in Kansas.
