We, the people of CrossFit Optimistic, desire to have our 1RM "for da board" OHS lifts be done from the rack rather than from the ground. We are attempting to measure a single maximum lift that begins with a weighted barbell overhead with arms, hips and knees at full extension. The movement begins in that position, passes through a below-parallel squat while the bar remains overhead, and returns to the starting position. We are not testing how much weight an athlete can take from the ground to overhead. (We don't require lifters working on a 1RM back squat or front squat to work from the ground!)
