The DC HPRB has a well-earned reputation for being the most lenient, anything-goes historic review board in the US. Staffer Tim Dennee and the board automtacally okay maximum density and footprint and then focus on meaningless issues like what color the bricks should be.

I assume that they were just renovating the house to make it fit in with the houses around it. Why do they need to add so much space for a single family home?

I join other neighbors in historic Mount Pleasant to oppose this proposed development. It would be detrimental and incompatible with the rest of the neighborhood and negatively impact our community.

Having lived at 1867 Park for 35 years and raised 2 sons in that wonderful home, I find the proposed changes very sad.

If this monstrosity sails through both boards then the meaning of "historic: preservation/registration/importance” will change and henceforth set a major precedent rendering this designation meaningless throughout the entire city. Shame on anyone claiming to support historic preservation and then vote to approve this.

the rear northeast corner of the proposed development. So the proposed windowless wall up to the property line is the direct view from the southern side of our house. At least half a dozen others who have a rear view of the proposed development across the famously historic alley from our homes also oppose the scale, position, and character of the current plan.
The unique historic and architectural character of this block should be preserved, and an appendage to 1867 Park Road that results in a 6-unit building will undermine both.

The builders and Jim Graham both need to go. Mr. Graham should be stopped from disposing of our neighborhood as he pleases.

This suggested development would be an eye-sore to our beautiful, historic neighborhood. This development would not adhere to the historic standards that we, owners and residents, are required to meet. We moved to Mt. Pleasant because of its historic character, low density and the fact that it is a "neighborhood". To allow a structure like this goes against the very grain of our neighborhood. We would like to achieve a resolution that is amicable to us and to the developers, if possible.

Lived in Mount Pleasant since 1976 and chose the neighborhood because of its outstanding architecture and open space. The neighborhood should stay the same.

This petition says it all. We live in this neighborhood because of its architecture, charm, history and multi-culturalism. Stop trying to disrupt these elements with big-money developers who could care less about the history, values and community we share. These building guidelines were established for a reason -- to preserve the integrity and beauty of the area. Current residents adhere to these historic guidelines, why don't developers have to do the same? Listen to the neighborhood, we have opinions too and we own the properties, not money-hungry developers.
