210 N 17th St - 63103. I often walk that street to get home between Washington to Olive. Closing this street is not in the best interest of the city. Any other street that has previously been "given away" has been required to maintain a city right of way walk-through space and inability to install permanent structures through what was the old street. At a minimum, this should be a requirement. The developer should be made to pay for street improvements on St. Charles street, including installing curb, gutter, lighting, and figure out an alternative for dumpster placement along that street if it is to become the new "street" in that area. Someone didn't think much about this project before considering the traffic consequences in the future. Once Butler Building is up and running, traffic will be a nightmare in this area!

This land that 17th street occupies is city land, our land. The aldermen and women need to quit lining their own pockets with public assets. Stop this land grab for personal profit.

If my voice counts, I'm against closure of 17th street, because the massive amount of activity going on downtown usually limits our access to the streets in our own neighborhood. Closing 17th street will further complicate things.

St Charles is not only "not a street" but has loading docks for the commercial space at Ely Walker; loading docks that block thru traffic when they are used. If the alderwoman would like to turn St Charles into a street, that decision GREATLY impacts the current plan to bring a grocery store into those spaces in Downtown West.

At a time when most cities are trying to improve infrastructure, I find it ridiculous that the city of St. Louis would allow a developer to reduce our city's infrastructure by closing a much used street. This may improve the developer's plans for his one building, but it worsens conditions for the rest of downtown. Shame!
