120 Aspen Oak Lane Non-Compliant Sober Living Facility
Dear State Of California,
I am writing on behalf of myself and All residents in our neighborhood to formally report ongoing and serious safety concerns related to a sober living residence located at 120 Aspen Oak Lane, Glendale CA 91207, and to respectfully request an immediate investigation by the appropriate state authority.
Over an extended period of time, this residence has been the source of repeated and escalating incidents that pose a direct risk to public safety, nearby homes, and the individuals residing at the facility. These incidents include, but are not limited to:
- A recent event involving a young man named Chase Brown, reportedly under the influence of Methamphetamine, escaped from 120 Aspen oak lane, who rolled down a 16,000 sq ft adjacent mountainside 6am in the morning which required an emergency response from law enforcement. He rolled down and landed in neighbors backyard, made his way to another neighbors front door and back yard, Multiple instances of vandalism and at least one attempted robbery attributed to residents associated with the property. Once again, this gentleman was under the influence of Methamphetamine. He stated that the house is not a place for anyone to attempt to become sober because they are offered drugs on a daily basis. He called his mother with the neighbors cell phone to let her know they have placed him in the wrong place and they threatened to kill him if he returns back to the home. He let authorities know that he wants to become sober but that facility is not a safe place for anyone to become clear of substances or continue their daily life in peace and recovery!
- Ongoing behavior in which individuals at the facility throw objects down the mountainside toward neighboring properties, including broken cell phones, heavy metal vaping devices, aerosol hairspray cans, tanning spray bottles and lit smoking items which is a huge fire hazard for the homes located on the mountain.
- Persistent disorderly and aggressive conduct that has made neighboring residents fearful for their safety and unable to safely use their own backyards.
- On going parties until 2am, which clearly violates the Glendale cities noise nuisances which is 10pm. This was advertised online as a "Sold Out Concert" in which law enforcement helicopters and Glendale Police department were told it is just a birthday party celebration. Birthday party? I would say More like a drug cartel organization in which individuals were smoking and being injected just right by the entrance of the home as their Sold out concert tickets barcodes were being scanned to allow access inside. The patients residing at this sober facility are Armed with guns and riffles presenting threatening pictures on the web.
Of particular concern is the significant fire hazard created by the repeated smoking items they throw in the bushes, disposal of aerosol cans and other combustible materials onto dry hillside terrain. Given the history of devastating fires in nearby communities, including Palisades and Eaton fires which left thousands of families without homes, this behavior presents a grave and unacceptable risk to life and property.
Additionally, neighbors have observed what appears to be ongoing drug activity involving residents of the facility. There are consistent reports of individuals being offered drugs daily, as well as violent and erratic behavior that is incompatible with the stated purpose of a sober living environment. These conditions not only endanger the surrounding community, but also place residents of the facility, particularly those genuinely seeking recovery at serious risk.
At this time, the operation of this residence does not appear to align with the standards, supervision requirements, or safety expectations of a legitimate sober living home. The continued lack of effective oversight has left neighboring residents feeling unsafe, unheard, and exhausted.
We respectfully request that the State conduct a thorough investigation into this property, including its licensing status, compliance with sober living regulations, supervision practices, the owner and overall impact on community safety. We further request that appropriate corrective or enforcement action be taken as soon as possible as we have lost total sleep over this dangerous home.
Residents of this neighborhood have collectively invested millions of dollars in establishing and maintaining one of Glendale’s Most Prestigious Residential communities. The highest-priced home sales in Glendale’s history occurred on Aspen Oak and Rimcrest. The ongoing conditions are inconsistent with the standards, safety, and mutual respect expected in a community of this Caliber.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. We are available to provide additional documentation, incident reports, or witness statements upon request.
Sincerely,
Neighbors of Brockmont community
On behalf of concerned neighboring residents
