10% Property Tax Cut For Dryden

Wouldn't everyone like to save 10% on their local property tax bill?
Over the last two years I have asked The Town Board of Dryden NY on three separate occasions to work towards finding a way to lower our property bill by 10%. They did not.
On 11-09-2011 (the day after the local Election) they voted to establish a local law allowing for an override of the State's 2% tax levy cap. Why would they need to do this if they didn't plan to exceed the the cap?
I strongly believe, we citizens of New York are way over taxed and that the continued increases in our tax burden must stop - the Governor even recognizes this. Why doesn’t the Town Board realize this? I don't think they understand, or choose to look the other way, the current economic condition of the Property owners of the area.
Check out their budget at http://dryden.ny.us/information/budget-information.
I know it could be very easy for the Town to be a leader on this issue and could lead by example to the rest of the municipalities of New York by lowering our tax bills.
Help make a point to our Town Board by signing the petition below and emailing or Facebooking - on this petition to as many Taxpayers of the Town of Dryden as you can.
Please also plan to attend the budget approval meeting on Wednesday night November 16th at the New Town Hall starting at 7:00pm.

Don Scutt
