can someone please provide who is backing this group? Is this backed or done on behalf of Republic Services? many of us are for recycling but with much of the recycling going to the landfill because of the current market this is relevant to know as part of the conversation.

We were recycling in Maryland 25 + yrs ago before moving here. Needless to say we are lagging far behind many other jurisdictions.

I'm pro-tax in exchange for city services. I do wonder though why I'm paying the same tax as my neighbor when they put out their garbage bin every week, and I put mine out once a month. I spend my own time and money to compost and recycle. This is a service I want the city to provide. Although recycling has become costly, compost is a profitable product. With a little shift in carrots/sticks, I am confident that the city can come up with a trash tax and collection plan that incentivizes composting and recycling so LESS waste goes into the landfill.

It's a shame for a city as big as Mufreesboro to have one recycling facility with very limited hours. No wonder our dump is growing!

I’ve been a recycler for 30 years, I think now is the time to make recycling “ mandatory “ or at least somehow reward the families that do recycle.

We are avid recyclers and pay for a company to pick up our recycling. Murfreesboro needs to step up and offer recycling service so maybe more residents will participate. Only a small number of people in my neighborhood use the paid recycling service. The other residents have overloaded trash cans that I’m sure are filled with tons of recyclable items and they probably don’t want to pay for the service or deal with the hassle of driving it to one of the recycling stations.

Tennessee needs to be more proactive about recycling and keeping litter and cigarette butts off of the roadways, streets, and out of the waterways. Big incentives would help a lot.

I want nothing more than to have a can at my home for recycling pick up. Not only is recycling the only way to go, but serting up a facility here that processes the waste will create jobs. Good all around!

If our leaders wonder what to do about our landfill problem, it seems logical that recycling would at least help the problem. I pay $40 a quarter to Stones River Recycling and only produce one bag of trash every two weeks. Most of what we throw away can be recycled. Please consider a recycling program in Murfreesboro, other than people having to haul it somewhere and/or pay to recycle things. Let's catch up with the times and start saving our planet before it's too late!
It's time!
