PURPOSE: This petition is required under 39-15-203 (a)

(i) (B) as a method to get a proposition to impose an excise tax to the voters
of Fremont County at a rate of an additional 1%. The petition
must be signed by 5% of the electors voting in the last General Election
which is 626 registered voters. The
petition will go to the County Commissioners for placement on the next election
possible. The general purpose excise tax
of 1% would be collected upon retail sales of tangible personal property,
admissions and services made within the county.
If the tax passed it would be in place for a 4 year period and would be
used to fund the county ambulance service.
Monies collected for cities and towns will be distributed to those
cities and towns and they would not be obligated to pay the county their
portion for ambulance services.
