It is important to raise awareness to these tragedies as well call on government to act decisively to avoid any repeat occurrences. The individuals whom we lost as a country to the recent 7th July accident in Bobi were Ugandans with bright and promising futures, parents, brothers, sisters and friends whose memories should not be shelved as mere statistics but be engraved in a memorial site as a reminder to the futures cut short and the country's commitment to do better to prevent accidents.

There has been negligence on the part of the government, public transport companies, and passengers alike. Strict measures must be put in place to address this, including but not limited to the mandatory installation of speed limiters on passenger vehicles to ensure they do not exceed 80 km/h.
