We call on the administration to reverse the decision denying Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas entry to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly. With the extreme rough situation in Palestine, especially Gaza, the need for dialogue is urgent, and closing the door to one of the main voices in this issue only makes a hard situation harder.

The United States has long played a central role as a mediator for peace, and that role matters now more than ever. In moments of deep conflict, diplomacy is often the only path that can keep tensions from growing and open space for better understanding between sides. Allowing Mahmoud Abbas to attend the UNGA would not solve everything on its own, but it could create room for better negotiations and more direct talks between Americans and Palestinians.

We also recognize the many ways Palestinians have contributed to American life and success, including figures like Dr. Essam Al Nimr, the NASA scientist who was part of the team in the 1969 Apollo mission to the moon. That history reminds us that people from Palestine have long been part of the broader story of progress and achievement.

This petition asks the administration, led by President Donald J. Trump, to reconsider the decision and allow Mahmoud Abbas to enter the US for the UNGA. Reversing this decision would show a commitment to peace, strengthen trust in American leadership, and reflect the values of fairness and responsibility that we hope our country stands for. We urge you to take this step toward dialogue and toward a better path forward for everyone involved.

The leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization is the sole, legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and is authorized to speak on their behalf and represent them before the United Nations General Assembly.

The PLO is the legitimate representative of the Palestinian People and of the Americans were partners in peace they’d sanction the genocidal Israelis who are engaged in apartheid.
