In my (now not presently needed) application for assistant chair, I articulated my vision for strengthening feedback loops and prioritizing values of access and belonging, especially for new and marginalized attendees. CCCC provided important points of access to conversations, resources, and mentoring. I hope this is work we can do in a new version of a disciplinary org.

NCTE’s de-chartering of CCCC was disorganized and callous, putting scholars’ careers and livelihoods in jeopardy and putting strain on other professional organizations and academic publications. I no longer trust NCTE to advocate for composition specialists, and I am dedicated to working to build a new infrastructure to foster community and knowledge-making. The dues paid by CCCC members should support efforts we believe in, not be absorbed by NCTE.
