The mess food is of very poor quality and lacks proper nutrition. It sometimes causes stomach burning and other discomfort. There are also restrictions on certain food items, and students are not allowed to take some items for a second serving. On some occasions, insects have been found in the food, and the food is sometimes undercooked and tastes very bad.The hostel facilities are also a major concern. There are frequent and prolonged power cuts, which are especially difficult .

As a faculty member of NIT Agartala, I stand with our students in their peaceful and legitimate demand for better hostel management, hygienic living conditions, and nutritious, quality mess food. Students deserve a safe, healthy environment to live and study. Their concerns must be heard, addressed transparently, and resolved with accountability. This is not about confrontation—it is about student welfare, dignity, and basic standards.
