We are asking the Olentangy Local School District Board of Education and district administration to keep Cross Creek in its current schools and remove it from scenario C of the proposed redistricting plan.

Cross Creek is already connected to Freedom Trail, Orange Middle School, and Orange High School. These schools are not just where our children learn. They are where friendships grow, families connect, and children build a sense of belonging, stability, and security. Changing school assignments would disrupt that strong community bond.

For many families in Cross Creek, Orange Middle and Orange High are close enough to see from home. Students walk to school for events and support their schools every day. Our neighborhood is small, and keeping us where we are will not create a large impact on enrollment. Moving us to schools much farther away would force children into longer bus rides even though they can already walk to the schools they know and can see from home.

Redistricting can separate children from their friends, disrupt daily routines, create transportation challenges, and make families adjust to a new school environment. It can also add unnecessary transportation costs for a district that is already dealing with transportation challenges. That is not the best use of resources, and it is not in the best interest of our children.

We respectfully ask the district to keep Cross Creek assigned to its current schools, prioritize student well-being and educational stability, consider the effects on friendships, sibling arrangements, transportation, and school activities, and listen carefully to community input before making a final decision.

We understand that OLSD must weigh enrollment, capacity, resources, and other factors. Still, our neighborhood’s situation deserves careful review. Please allow Cross Creek’s children to remain at their current schools and preserve the connections our families have built.

It doesn’t make sense to have kids that walk to school now needing transportation, which causes a financial need for more bus drivers and the district already has a hard time recruiting drivers.

My wife and I grew up in small towns where we were able to build amazing relationships k-12. That’s tough in a growing district like Olentangy, but it can happen: and it HAS happened in Cross Creek. 10 years ago we purchased our home in Cross Creek because of its proximity to FTES, OOMS and OOHS thinking we could help our own children get a small town feel from our local schools. The families are close, and our kids grew up dreaming of being Pioneers. Let’s keep Cross Creek at home!

Bypassing a school in our immediate backyard to bus neighborhood children to a distant campus is logistically and financially irresponsible. This proposal unnecessarily increases student commute times, introduces avoidable safety hazards on longer transit routes, and strains the district’s transportation budget with added fuel and busing costs. Forcing our children past their neighborhood school disrupts community cohesion and denies them the safety and health benefits of a walkable neighborhood

My older child can safely and easily drive to school and my other student can safely walk to school in middle school independently.

Why should kids within walking distance (1/2 a mile) be forced to bus to a different school in the district? This not only puts additional financial burden on the schools, but hardship on the families to provide transportation to extracurricular activities.

We just moved to Olentangy 2 years ago and part of the beauty was that our neighborhood WAS our schools. The logistics, time, and energy wasted to drag these kids away from Orange and to other schools they didn't grow up knowing and supporting is illogical.

Any neighborhood right across from a school should remain at that school.

Please consider keeping Cross Creek neighborhood with Orange Middle and High. My family lives so close to our children’s school that we can literally see it from our front door. It is incredibly frustrating to think that our children could be moved away from a school that is right in our own neighborhood. School boundaries should take into account proximity, neighborhood connections, children’s stability, and the impact on families.
