We call on Singapore to apologise to Cambodia for the prejudice and false connection to scam crime that has hurt Cambodian people and strained relations between our two countries and the wider ASEAN family.

The misleading case of Siti Aishan Siregar binte Siregar has led many netizens in Singapore to make early assumptions and spread a damaging accusation. That kind of prejudice does real harm. It leaves ordinary people feeling disrespected, it deepens mistrust, and it turns a difficult moment into a wound between neighbours who should be working in friendship and good faith.

We understand that facts can be unclear at first and that truth may later come to light. But when wrong assumptions have already spread, the right response is not silence. The right response is to acknowledge the hurt, correct the prejudice, and show respect to the Cambodian people who were affected by it.

This is not a call for a national shaming campaign. It is a request for a peaceful and honest gesture that helps preserve trust and leaves a better memory of how we settled this matter. A sincere apology from Singapore would be an act of true friendship and care, and a meaningful step toward repairing what has been damaged.
