As a former St. Peter’s coach, former Asst. Athletic Director, current parishioner, and Pacifica resident I know first hand how much the St. Peter’s sports programs have meant to thousands of children and families over the years. This makes zero sense for our parish and community.

CYO basketball has been open to children from all walks of life forever. How dare the archdiocese allow this decision. The church is supposed to be about inclusion and togetherness. Shame on you! Open CYO at St. Peter’s and Good Shepherd and alike to ALL! Remember God is watching!

This is an absolute travesty. St. Peter’s needs to figure this out. Taking basketball away from our youth is unacceptable. I’m very disappointed in the parish and the leadership.

This news is deeply heartbreaking and troubling. CYO Basketball is a tradition for many families in Pacifica, and kids in our community need these outlets for a sense of belonging, skill building, and to be a part of a team. Please save CYO basketball in Pacifica.

A disgraceful outcome for the St. Peter's Parish and a tragic loss for the community whose St Peter's leadership has been appointed to support.

I am signing this petition to support the children, families and parish of St Peter’s. Taking away this sport in our community will be detrimental to our youth. Taking this opportunity to build up your parish and community would be a huge mistake on your part. This could be a great way to reach out to our youth and encourage a path towards church!!! This is about the children of our parish and beyond. Please reconsider.

This basketball program is cherished deeply by our community. To deprive the children of this experience with NO explanation, feels reckless, and is not congruent with how much value this program provides for our families.

Please save this program! I have some of my very best friends, friendships that have lasted 30+ years, because of the St. Peter’s basketball program. Some of my most treasured childhood memories and lifelong friendships came from being part of this program.
I want my son to have that same experience, to grow, make memories, build friendships, and hopefully carry them with him for years to come. That’s what makes this program so special.

Please reconsider. These kids get more than basketball from this program. It gives them a place to build confidence, learn teamwork and sportsmanship, form friendships and connection to their community.

I played for Good Shepherd basketball growing up but always enjoyed our games against St Peter’s. Had a lot of friends that played there too. It’s good for the kids to be active and playing

Basketball is so important for our kids and our community. It gives them a safe, positive place to stay active, build confidence, learn teamwork, and create lasting friendships. Please consider the impact of removing this opportunity from our children. Our kids deserve to have basketball in our town.

The basketball program was a vital part of my children’s lives for many years. We need transparency as to why we can’t continue the program.

St. Peter’s is the only in city option for my kids to play basketball. We love Pacifica and don’t want to have to leave our community in order to access youth sports. Save CYO St. Peter’s!!!
