Decision Makers: Manatee County Board of County Commissioners

The proposed wall at Aqua affects my community on the bay. Wild Oak Bay Vista IV residents have invested a lot in protecting the mangroves in front of our building. During the storm Helene we experienced a surge that flooded under our building and the parking lot on the far side. This caused considerable damage and that wall will create a bigger problem if another similar storm happens. Given the warming of the water that possibility is likely.

We live near the Aqua development which has already destroyed a lot of habitat and we are seeing more wildlife in our area as they have been evicted. Please do not allow more development in this location. I’m a civil engineer and am shocked that any proposal to eliminate a wetland buffer is being considered with all of the information we have now on how detrimental not having a buffer is to hydraulics of area during heavy rains and disastrous in hurricanes. Please stop this.

This would set a disastrous precedent that will be environmentally irresponsible and hurt property values
