we demand his immediate release… It is completely unethical and unjust to hold an individual liable for actions he did not commit

He is innocent and being made a scapegoat. Arresting a Master commanding a vessel in open international waters without any reason is irrational and unwarranted. He is a seafarer who was only doing his duty. The vessel, and its owner and its operators must be impounded and arrested but the Master and crew of the vessel must be released immediately

He was just doing his job! Not aware if owners/managers/chartered had informed of ship's legal position.

I was a Sea Captain and I know that he had no control over what the ship was carrying or where he had to take the vessel to. He was just doing his job and should not be held responsible for political decisions.

I am a Mariner and understand how a sailor is very small pawn in the game. He does not control the commercial arrangements of the ship.

In my opinion the owner should be responsible for accurately describing the cargo, providing proper documentation, and securing the goods safely for an ocean voyage unless the Master handles the packing. In this case Capt Pant is totally innocent.

Use interpol to arrest the ship manager and the shipowner who took the commercial decesion. It is they who had the intent to commit the crime of carrying the sanctioned oil. Shipping should be obeying only UN sanctions. If countries disobey any sanctions go after those flag states and shipowners but not ship crew who are innocent victims caught in these political games.
