The safety of all people using the road

Safety on our roads is the responsibility of all road users. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians need to be mindful. However, enforcing lower speed limits and providing speed cameras will enhance safety. Roads in residential areas with much congestion such as Harborough Avenue will benefit from lower speed limit of 20mph as well as cameras.

Safety, community, and freedom for people to walk, play and cycle have to take priority over speed

I have seen too many accidents on my street resulting in people being run over. I believe the implementation and enforcement of the 20mph speed limit would help reduce the frequency and severity of these accidents.

I live on this road and I have witnessed a couple of accidents on it; as the area is becoming more residential, it is important that the speed limit be reduced to protect lives, especially our young kids crossing the road when going to school or accessing the community.

Hopefully they’ll install speed cameras on top of 20mph signs, as motorist will just ignore signs.

This is important to me because this is a residential road used regularly by families, children, pedestrians and cyclists. Following the recent accident, I feel that reducing the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph would help make the road safer and give drivers more time to react to unexpected situations. I believe a lower speed limit would help prevent serious accidents and make our community safer for everyone.

Too many of Sheffields 30mph roads feel unsafe at the current speed limit, especially for pedestrians and cyclists.

Increased traffic using local residential roads as cut throughs is making them increasingly dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. In some places 20mph is already in place but with no enforcement or monitoring. I fully support extending the speed limit and normalising safe speeds in the city.

All roads that are not primary or bus routes with housing, should be 20mph so families can walk in safety.

We may be about to get 20mph where I live near Hunter's Bar, but the stupidity of it all is that the most dangerous road in the area will be remaining 30mph.

Roads continue to be a source of significant danger and there is now substantial evidence, from wales and London that reducing speeds reduces risk to all road users, especially more vulnerable people including children , as a mother pedestrian cyclist and in my work as a GP where I have witnessed the harm from suffered both directly to victims of crashes and their family, class mates and friends. authorities are in a position to mitigate risk to health I believe all measures should be taken

I regularly visit Sheffield and am surprised by the speed on most of the roads.

I want lower speeds as a driver, pedestrian and cyclist and as a parent of young children. The effect will be enormous, not just on safety but also on the noise and the general pleasantness of the city. People will be able to cycle more, meaning fewer cancers and strokes: shorter waiting times in the NHS; lower demand for social care. Sounds brilliant!!
