Genuine people like Dr. Dela Cruz are rare. Her love and passion for her students and those she works with is clearly evident. It would be a shame not to renew her contract and keep her at Santa Ana College. Words should not be needed, as her actions and leading by example over the last 10 years have shown the reality of who she is and what she brings to the table for Santa Ana College. We need to be better and not lose sight of a gem when it’s right in front of us.

Our University of Alaska Fairbanks runs a student research intensive program with Maria through MESA. Maria has been a tremendous partner supporting this transformative, high impact research experience for students from both of our institutions. We are waiting to hear back from the National Science Foundation for news on a $5 million proposal we wrote together to build the program and create stronger transfer options for students to Alaska. Maria will be a PI on the grant and irreplaceable.

Dr. Dela Cruz has always been so supportive when working with noncredit. When I was SCE GP Coordinator, I had the opportunity to work alongside her a lot more as we worked on transitioning our SCE students. I was also part of the Advising Committee for SAC’s APSC when it was just getting started. This group has now blossomed and continues to support both credit & noncredit students. It’ll be a shame to lose such a wonderful Dean who is equity-minded. Please reconsider this contract and keep her.

Dr. Dela Cruz is the best boss anyone could have and she deserves the highest accolades! Without Dr. Dela Cruz's support for my future I probably would not have reached my goal of graduating. My experience is not singular as Dr. Dela Cruz treats all students/staff/faculty with this same essence of empathy and caring morale. Please reconsider!

I truly think that is extremely disappointing seeing the injustice caused by another staff member (Dan Ruiz) and his incompetence lead to remove Dr. Dela Cruz. I really hope that she gets to keep her position, and if not, I really hope that she gets the place and space where her leadership is valued and gets to work with professional staff, not disqualified instructors such as Dan Ruiz.

I have had the honor of working with Dr. De La Cruz for over 10 years in several different committees. She has always been a great leader that not only wants the best for the students, but also the classified staff and faculty. I always look forward to seeing her around campus with her genuine love for our community. I wish you would reconsider her contract. She is an amazing human being. I loved her involvement with the Asian Pacific Islander community and looked forward to her episodes.
