Request for the Department of War to name a ship USS Cowpens

The name COWPENS, a critical revolutionary war battle, a national park, a City, and the name of 2 previous US NAVY Combatants, should forever remain a part of the NAVY. Not to mention the amount of involvement the city of COWPENS has maintained with both USS COWPENS ships to include correspondence, a museum and an annual parade. A rich history that should be continued in the naming of another US NAVY Combatant as soon as possible!!

I moved to Cowpens thirty years ago the day of that year’s Mighty Moo Festival and the town just showed love to us along with the Vets (and families) visiting! It was amazing the interaction and pride between the Vets and community! My family has/had numerous veterans but never have I seen the community pride and love shown for our veterans as here every year and every time any vet comes through the area! Support our military and name a third ship USS Cowpens for continuing the mission!

A good friend of mine served on the second Cowpens (CG-63). I have attended the Mighty Moo Festival twice. The town’s embrace of those connected to either ship is very impressive

My father served on CVL 25 during WW 2 M division He was proud of his service and saw a lot of sacrifices. Keeping the name alive honors him and his fellow crew members.

Naming another Navy ship USS Cowpens would carry forward a proud connection between our town and the United States Navy that has lasted for generations. It would honor the sailors who served aboard CVL 25 and CG 63 while giving a new generation of sailors the opportunity to become part of that history. The Cowpens name belongs at sea again.

USS Cowpens, and it's ties to the Great State of South Carolina, the Cowpens Battleground, and the town of Cowpens are bound by history, patriotism, and community. The Town of Cowpens' annual "Mighty Moo Festival" draws THOUSANDS of guests from across the USA, demonstrating their commitment to continuing the COWPENS Tradition. The next Festival, in June 2027, will mark 50 years of CELEBRATION.

As a former Crewmember of the USS Cowpens CG-63 I have attamed the Mighty Moo festival for many Years and this is a Tradition that needs to be persevered, and The Navy needs to Carry the USS Cowpens name into the future
