Dear Dorm Manager,

We, the undersigned residents of the dormitory, would like to kindly request for a suitable space where Muslim residents can perform their daily prayers.

We express our sincere appreciation to the dormitory management for providing a room for prayer during Ramadan. This was greatly appreciated by Muslim residents and provided a convenient and peaceful place for prayer.

However, those who follow Islam must pray five times every day, throughout the year—not only during Ramadan. Moreover, praying in congregation (together) is especially encouraged in Islam, with the well-known teaching that congregational prayer carries 27 times the reward of praying alone. There are many Muslim students living in the dormitory, and many of us would benefit from having a suitable shared space for prayer.

Individual dormitory rooms are small and not suitable for prayer. Each prayer itself generally takes only around 5–10 minutes, and we would be happy to use the space respectfully and according to dormitory rules. 

We kindly request you to designate an area which Muslim residents can use for daily prayers. (A specific prayer area is also available in the Medical School)
