I believe that changing things that have already been established for a long time is unnecessary and I would like things to be consistent with the already existing fan translations.

This is a nuanced topic but overall I agree and think that *generally* community terminology should be kept.
It's not all-encompassing but here's a "brief" writeup I did on the topic: https://pastebin.com/Z1S7gsT0

I don't know why they would ever change it like they did. It doesn't make sense.

I'd rather have technically wrong translations rather than translations that changes terminology that was used for a couple decades. Changing slightly how things are called in other languages, voluntarily or not, is not unheard of.

Isn't like people refer to the capital of Japan as Toukyou either.

Its easier for me to remember stuff, instead of needing to relearn all the new names.
Its also nicer sounding

I'd prefer if less situations where long-standing established names or terms are changed. I am already stubborn on the change to Dream Seal. Think about it like this, Twitter has been called X for 2 years and it is still widely referred to as Twitter, and often when it is referred to as X, it is done so sarcastically or mockingly. This already happened with official Lotus Eaters translations for the term "Youkai" it doesn't need to happen again

It's just common sense. If there's already an established name for something, there's often no need to come up with a new one yourself. A reference document's basically a must-have in any case anyway.

We are already used to certain foundational translation preferences, and I would like them to be brought up towards ZUN and his team.

I think it would be cool if everyone could be on the same page for this! For sure the official translators do a great job, but if everyone were consistent with each other it would be a great step forward c:

I agree with the sentiment and would like a shared naming convention when discussing theses subjects in the community.
