While I am not a translator myself, I am friends (at least self-proclaimed) with some, and I think standardization (with room for correction of course), or at least community feedback is extremely important for the future of official releases of a series that has largely been supported BY the community. I'm not saying the old translations are perfect or even good, but rather the community should have a say, and then the translators themselves can decide what is being said is valid or not.

Touhous rich history of fan made content has played a big part in keeping me interested in it for as long as I have been, I'd like it if that history was taken into account on the 'official' side of things. (plus, I think that glossary idea is really cool, it would be a great tool not just for translators but for the community as a whole!)

I run a Touhou club. I wouldn't want a rift of terminology between new English speaking players and older English speaking players. Not only would new players feel burdened by a new barrier of entry, they'd need to relearn lots of names just to get into the lore and the many decades of English language discussion that already exists.

While I find this issue not the greatest one, I agree that the community-defined standards should be respected. Besides, the discrepancies along the way can create a knowledge and understanding gap between the fans, which would be undesirable.

I believe that changing things that have already been established for a long time is unnecessary and I would like things to be consistent with the already existing fan translations.

I'd rather have technically wrong translations rather than translations that changes terminology that was used for a couple decades. Changing slightly how things are called in other languages, voluntarily or not, is not unheard of.

I'd prefer if less situations where long-standing established names or terms are changed. I am already stubborn on the change to Dream Seal. Think about it like this, Twitter has been called X for 2 years and it is still widely referred to as Twitter, and often when it is referred to as X, it is done so sarcastically or mockingly. This already happened with official Lotus Eaters translations for the term "Youkai" it doesn't need to happen again

It's just common sense. If there's already an established name for something, there's often no need to come up with a new one yourself. A reference document's basically a must-have in any case anyway.
