This is a safety matter for cruising sailors like me. We have come to rely upon Starling for communication at sea for weather updates; passage guardian services (daily updating emails); and notifying emergency services e.g. maritime communication centres, as well as local updates from fellow cruisers. There are also national applications for visa entry to differing nations. Plans change at sea e.g. weather, breakdowns, equipment failure etc a 90 day country transfer rule makes this impossible

We've just spent 60 days in Canada. With this we would have list access for half of it. Next year we will travel to Europe and will move regularly between counties. We use starlink for work but it not that lucrative that we can just use global. It may mean we have to cancel our plans

Starlink has transformed life aboard in a very positive way. Starlink made communication very easy when my husband was evacuated off the boat with appendicitis off Ecuador. Now in French Pilynesia we are not able to localise as Starlink is not available here. Also once we leave here to sail to Australia we will be changing countries every few weeks.
