We, the undersigned students of the final-year B.Tech Computer Science Engineering program at Alliance University, strongly oppose the implementation of mandatory Capstone Project attendance on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Our academic schedule is structured with regular classes from Monday to Wednesday. The remaining days provide final-year students with essential flexibility to pursue placements, interviews, internships, certifications, technical upskilling, resume building, personal projects, and other career opportunities.

The decision to require students to be physically present on campus for two additional full days every week is unnecessary and places an unreasonable restriction on this flexibility.

The Capstone Project is evaluated based on its progress, quality, milestones, and final submission not on the number of hours students are physically seated on campus. Students are fully capable of coordinating with their teams, working independently, and meeting their mentors when guidance is required. Mandatory 9:00 AM–4:00 PM attendance does not inherently improve the quality or progress of the project.

Furthermore, final-year students are at a critical stage of their careers. Placement opportunities, interviews, internships, networking, certifications, competitive programming, portfolio development, and other professional activities often require flexibility during weekdays. Taking away two full days every week directly limits students' ability to pursue these opportunities.

We are not opposing the Capstone Project. We are opposing the unnecessary mandatory attendance requirement.

We therefore demand that the mandatory Thursday and Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Capstone attendance requirement be cancelled and that students be given the flexibility to work on their projects according to their team's requirements and meet mentors as necessary, while continuing to meet all officially prescribed project deadlines and academic requirements.

This petition represents the collective concern of final-year students who believe that academic responsibility and career preparation should be balanced rather than one being unnecessarily restricted by the other.

We want the mandatory Thursday and Friday 9:00 AM–4:00 PM Capstone attendance requirement removed.

The mandatory Thursday and Friday attendance makes it difficult for final-year students to focus on placements, internships, interviews, and skill development. Since Capstone work can be completed in teams and mentor meetings can be scheduled when required, full-day attendance seems unnecessary.
