I am a native New Yorker and a musician! I played there and I know how iconic it was to the city!! It was an extremely special time and a special venue and deserves to be memorialized by a street!!!

The bottom line hosted incredible artists for years in the heart of Greenwich Village, including Bruce Springsteen, , the police, Dire Straits, Hall & Oates, David Johansen, James Taylor, Carley Simon and countless others. If you look into it, Rich history just a little you will award the location for the commemorative placque..

Music and its living history should be preserved. People need a place to gather, to listen, to share a love of music and find music that is not their own. Music speaks universally. How can we share and speak of it if there is nowhere to gather or find a touchstone like the Bottom Line?

I am gone from living in downtown Manhattan now about 30 years & when people learn I lived there for maybe 25 years or so, they ask me HOW did I live there? I am tired of saying things like….
“well, it wasn’t like it is now when I lived there, etc.” (various descriptions follow depending on to whom I am responding & my mood. I would like something that would encompass how it really was. I even worked at The Bottom Line for Stanley & Allen. It is worth remembering well!

I’m a former employee from ‘79-‘82, and my time working at the club was memorable & life-changing. History was made many times over within those walls, and the location should be a landmark!

This is important to me because I believe in preserving such an iconic and important part of entertainment culture and history, and in doing so will keep the legacy alive by honoring such an iconic place that resides in so many artist’s hearts.

A great city, of which I was a part for thirty years, whose image dwells in the memory of man, is the type of some great idea: New York City embodies the pre-eminent quality of the antique world, Art and Culture.
