I have kids here in Truckee I'm a employee of a local gas station I have called the police numerous times on the homeless here unfortunately I don't feel safe I don't feel that my kids are safe I worry that this homeless shelter is ruining the beautiful town of Truckee the police don't seem to ultimately care or do things to make it safe here because then they make you feel bad for calling when you feel threatened or unsafe for you or your children.

I am an avid hiker and mountain bike enthusiast. I use the paved and unpaved paths between The Boulders and Coldstream. I see at least 5 homeless people a day - either around the paths of more frequently at the McDonald's parking lot - begging, even harassing people passing by. I have been harassed on several occasions. I am a fit male, however I feel threatened and very out numbered. I don't feel comfortable in my own neighborhood. These folks need to be removed from the area.

The operational framework was established with a Good Neighbor Policy intended to protect the harmony of the district. Unfortunately, the guideline has not been met consistently. A successful support program must uplift the entire community while aiding its participants. In its current form, this pilot program is creating unintended hardships for the neighborhood. I urge you to listen to the voices of residents and to take decisive action to reevaluate the future of this site.

Moving to Coldstream was life-changing for my family. We chose this community for its active, healthy, safe, and connected environment—and for nearly five years, that’s what we experienced. That changed almost immediately after the Navigation Center opened. Frightening incidents now occur regularly, and I no longer feel safe walking alone, crossing the street for coffee, or collecting my mail. This is not the community we invested in or expected when we purchased our home. Move the Center!

I am signing this petition in my personal capacity, while also being transparent that I work professionally on the Coldstream project. I support the request for the Town to carefully reevaluate whether this is the appropriate long-term location for the Navigation Center and to consider alternative locations that continue to provide important services while better balancing the needs of the surrounding residential community, local businesses, and recreational uses.

The Cold Stream community, and it's beautiful trail system, has become home or a visiting place to many residents and small businesses. Ours included. All of us made the commitment and investment with the trust that this would remain a safe and peaceful place. That is not the case. The stakeholders in the Cold Stream community pay a lot of money to provide and maintain public amenities, the right to safe and peaceful enjoyment is a fair and reasonable expectation we should be granted.

The relocation center is in an inappropriate place. Next to homes with children and near a school bus stop.

Part of the appeal in that area has been lost because my daughter and our family no longer feel safe walking through the neighborhood with the homeless shelter adjacent to the property .

My husband and I visit Truckee often and have even considered purchasing a home there. The past year we’ve tabled that decision because we no longer feel safe. Walking the trails and enjoying nature feels unsafe due to the area exploding with unstable homeless individuals.

I avoid getting my mail, and often see a mentally unstable individual with a large tree bough walking on the trail directly in front of my front door yelling and cursing. I support compassionate care for unhoused people but this should include adequate mental health services, and housing, and not be located adjacent to a neighborhood with many young children and families. I urge you to reconsider the location of the navigation center.

It's unconstitutional that tax payers have to foot the bill for another homeless project that will fail like all the other government homeless projects enacted since the 1960s! It's unconstitutional that another socialist POLICY of putting homeless into TAX PAYER'S neighborhoods which bring crime and drugs. I highly doubt any Town of Truckee council member or Mayor would want this in their multi million dollar gated community. It's hypocrisy. What's right for thee isn't right for me.

Our family has had a cabin for generations, that said I’ve seen whats happening and it’s because of the magnet of the center. I’m not sure why this location was considered a good idea? It abuts residential and the park where we need to feel safe. And the trail where many residents walk or ride.

I am signing this petition because I no longer feel safe in my own neighborhood or inside my house. This is not an objection to providing services or compassionate support to people experiencing homelessness. It is about the very real consequences this location has had for the residents who live immediately around it. I have personally found an individual passed out on my property who has since reportedly threatened to kill children in our neighborhood. This same individual has assaulted someone

Locating the center where it is is the wrong choice.

On her evening walk, my wife was aggressively followed by a man who suddenly appeared from an illegal camp adjacent to the shelter. Neighbors gave her sanctuary while this was reported to the shelter manager, but nothing was done. This is one of many incidents the community has experienced - often daily. As a direct result of the decision to pilot this inappropriate location by the town council, Truckee PD have reported an unprecedented year on year increase of incidents within our community.
