We, the Grade 11 students of LANDAU School “Hazırlıq Məktəbi” and our parents/legal guardians, ask the School Administration to review the current rules on personal electronic devices, bag inspections at the school entrance, temporary confiscation of personal property, and student exit procedures.

We fully understand the need to keep students, staff, and visitors safe. We do not object to reasonable security measures that have a clear basis in the law and the school’s internal rules. What concerns us is when these measures are applied without a clear written explanation, or when the rules are not the same for everyone.

During the previous period, students were allowed to bring personal laptops and tablets, including for educational use. Now, personal laptops and tablets are taken at the entrance and returned at the end of the school day. We respectfully ask for the written basis for this practice. The 2026/2027 Student and Parent Handbook regulates mobile phones and also mentions confiscation of mobile phones or tablets with SIM cards in cases of violations. It also states that tablets are expected as a necessary part of the educational process for Grade 10 students. We have not found a separate published rule requiring Grade 11 students to hand in personal laptops every day.

We therefore ask for one clear rule that applies fairly to all classes: students should be allowed to bring a personal electronic device when it is needed for a specific lesson and approved by the teacher, while use for games, social media, or other unrelated purposes should be prohibited.

We also ask for clear written information about bag inspections, metal detectors, prohibited items, who may carry out inspections, when items may be confiscated, who stores them, how they are returned, and how a student or parent can appeal.

We are not asking for safety to be weakened. We are asking for transparency, consistency, and fair treatment for every student.
