The new rule makes it extremely difficult to work and plan so far in advance, while imposing unnecessary stress and additional financial burdens on teachers!

Workplace fairness is a must to ensure quality teachers

Let’s not allow the further degradation of our teacher positions! As independent contractors we only seek fair policies that will safeguard our autonomy. Not having the benefits of an employee worker is taxing enough, so why are we being subjected to additional rigid internal policies?!

This new proposed change in policy is cruel and will not help the platform in ensuring a higher level of teaching quality for students, which is what it claims to be prioritising. Teachers will end up teaching through illness and lessons will be sloppy, which is not what students deserve. LingoAce, we urge you to reconsider these changes for the wellbeing of all the wonderful, hardworking teachers and students who comprise this platform.

I manually track my hours and routinely lose 2 to 4 hours of income per week due to flawed cancellation policies. Paying half-rate for a 30-minute cancellation treats us like employees without giving us employee protections. Unlike LingoAce, the American education company I work for pays 100% for short-notice cancellations because time is money. This unfair scheduling control violates independent contractor standards and will face legal consequences in a US court.

Online ESL teachers are getting exploited despite the very high demand and value in English learning and studying. The fact that our salaries stay stagnant while the global economy gets more expensive is bad enough. Lessening our rights to our schedules is too much.

No fair policies to protect us from extreme student cancellations and loss of revenue. Some students can't show up with a weeks notice so a month out the cancellations will double. If you want to fix the problem start with your cancellation policy for students make them at least cancel within 72 hours to give teachers a chance to fill with another student, if your demanding the same from us. Or compensate our loss in full for the cancelled class within 24 hours.

It's not fair to say that we are subcontractors , and then to demand that we have to work certain hours.

The new conditions are unfair for all teachers. Please reconsider having this rule reinstated. We can't have good quality classes with unhappy teachers!

The platform has continuous problems, the lessons English spelling and grammar are not always correct. They aren’t trying to fill teachers slots. They have different policies for different people.

I believe a fairer approach would include compensation for fixed slots canceled by students at short notice when the teacher is available and the lesson cannot be reassigned. Teacher leave policies should also allow reasonable flexibility for personal circumstances, emergencies, and holidays without imposing disproportionate deductions.

We are supposed to be contractors and have control of our schedules. They cannot have it both ways. They can't force us to accept the lessons in advance an penalise us for cancelling.

This is really unfair towards teachers. As independent contractors (as pir contracts states) we shouldn't have employee rules. This is getting out of hand. Even the fact that we don't get a yearly increase..

The reality is that teachers cannot survive on LingoAce’s hourly pay. Most of us must prioritize full-time or higher-paying part-time jobs, demanding that 1099 independent contractors guarantee availability four weeks in advance is completely unreasonable and teeters on Behavioral Control. Furthermore, the cancellation and penalty policies are entirely one-sided and exploitative: Massive Financial Risk for Teachers, Double Standards on Cancellations, Unpaid Labor and Regressive Pay Structure
