I am signing this petition to request equal and fair treatment regarding student visa applications. On June 16th, the embassy explicitly confirmed via email that language certificates accepted by universities would be recognized for visa processing. Denying certificates now—despite previously approving them for other students—creates unfair inconsistency and threatens students' academic futures. We urge the embassy to honor its written guidance and maintain consistent evaluation standards.

The points we are asking about:
1. We applied according to the official checklist and language requirements. The language certificate accepted by the university should be accepted for the visa.
2. On June 16, we received an official email confirming these requirements.
3. Students who applied in May, June, and even July obtained their visas under these conditions, while our requirements were suddenly updated without prior notice.
4. We are all applying for the same academic year 2026/2027

We want justice. How can you change the rules in the middle of an academic year? At first, you said that all certificates accepted by your university would be accepted for the visa process, and then you suddenly changed the requirements. This is unfair to students who followed the rules that were in place when they applied.

I am an Algerian student admitted to the University of Palermo for the 2026/2027 academic year. My English proficiency was positively evaluated and accepted by the University of Palermo through its admission process, including an interview and an academic assessment. However, my English language evidence was not accepted during the visa process. I am requesting clarification and a fair review of my case, as this issue may affect my opportunity to pursue my studies in Italy.

Dear Italian Embassy in Algiers,
We respectfully ask for clarification regarding the recent changes concerning language certificates for student visa applications.
1. Some students submitted their applications according to the official checklist and the linguistic requirements communicated to them, which stated that the language certificate accepted by their university would also be accepted for the visa application.
2. On 16 June, we received an official email confirming this information.
