We, the undersigned youth of the Sierra Vista area, are asking for a stake youth calendar that includes five stake-wide casual dances each year during the school year.

Right now, there are no summer activities, which leaves a long stretch with nothing planned when youth have the most free time. We ask that other standard weeknight activities and service projects be moved into the summer months so the calendar is more balanced and the school year is not so crowded.

We also ask leadership to take another look at the current style of weeknight activities. Too many of them feel repetitive or unengaging, and that can make youth attend out of obligation instead of real interest. Our calendar should give young people something to look forward to, not just something to get through.

Stake-wide dances help fill that need. They create a high-energy, welcoming space where youth can step out of their comfort zones and build real friendships. Unlike many standard activities, dances bring the young men and young women together as one group and make it easier to break the ice and socialize naturally.

By signing below, we show our united support for a calendar that better fits the needs of the youth. We also commit to attending, promoting, and helping plan these events so they can be a success for everyone involved.
