Recently Uber and Lime made the decision to require a mandatory ID scan to use Lime Bikes and Lime Scooters. This change was made due to the bypassing of minors using their products. ID verification has had a history of dangerous misuse and leaks, and has not remotely solved the problem. Children are now asking strangers to help bypass this safeguard, which is putting them at even further risk. 
The surveillance state we currently find ourselves in under the guise of protecting our youth not only takes away the freedom of choice, but puts many at risk. With databases being hacked every day the number of places we chose to send our information grows smaller and smaller.
