When my husband was dying and suffering from deep depression & self-neglect, Emilio would routinely come over to keep him well kempt. My husband would visibly look and feel better and Emilio refused to let him lose his dignity to his mental health struggles. There's a special place in heaven for people like Emilio.

Please honor Emilio Lugo service to our country and city by naming 13th street after him. He was a great American of Puerto Rican ancestry.

It is important to honor those who have given much in service to others and it is heartwarming that his daughter wishes to recognize her father in this way.

I’m proud to support naming a street in his honor. He dedicated his life to serving others—first in the military, then with the NYPD, where he rose through the ranks through hard work, integrity, and leadership. Beyond his career, he was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and someone who treated everyone with kindness and respect. His legacy of service, compassion, and commitment to his community deserves to be remembered for generations to come.

Although I did not have the opportunity to spend much time with Mr. Lugo, I have heard countless accounts of the remarkable man he was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. He cared for my brother as though he were his own son, not merely a son‑in‑law, and for that, I remain deeply grateful.

Since first grade I have known the Lugo family. They have been a staple in our community of park slope. I thank Mr Lugo for his service . This is a small token of what he deserves. I wish I can do more to show my appreciation to him and his family.
