According to Noam Chomsky, defunding an entity is the first step to eroding it. Once it fails to function, precisely due to that defunding, calls for its replacement or dismantling ensue. This defunding is the beginning of the end.

UNSA is the reason many students, including myself, feel welcome, comfortable and happy at the university.
It needs investment, not cuts.

University student unions made my university experience more affordable. Corporatisarion of the scetor has not led to better services: just lost services and expensive services. Let's give today's students the hope we had.

UNSA is a vital part of organising clubs and events within UON, and social life without it would be much worse.

Even though I don't engage much with UNSA I can still clearly tell how important of and organisation it is to the students. I have never heard anything bad about UNSA or any reasonings that support the creation of a new association that contradicts the existence of an already successful association

ALL SSAF revenue should go to independent, democratic, student led organisations. Definitely not to fake university management controlled entities.

UNSA is fundamental to the student culture of UoN. As a club president, they’ve been crucial in championing our club’s events and outreach to ensure we can create a supportive, enjoyable and worthwhile community space. They care about seeing us students not only survive our time at uni, but enjoy it, utilise every opportunity to grow and become the best we possibly can. So much of my positive uni experience results from UNSA’s involvement: simply put, I can’t see UoN without them.

UNSA is so important for students physical and mental health, it should be a priority to maintain students wellbeing while we are studying. Uni life is hard enough!!

This is another example of Executive overreach! They don't like UNSA's independence, so they defund it.

Student organisations are an essential part of university life and should remain student-run to best serve student needs - and to provide opportunities for students to experience leadership.
