Unlike what Trump seems to believe, Lake Ontario has nothing to do with Canada. The name comes from early Indigenous peoples of the region, specifically the Wyandot or Huron-Wendat nation who called it "lake of shinning waters". The city in Canada later adopted the name based on the existing native American name for the lake.
We are not changing our history to support a stupid trade war. No matter what political side you are, we do not bend our knee so wealthy people can fight economic wars. We are proud of our lake, of our heritage, and of our land. We will not sacrifice our land and our name for money.
