The North West University’sstated official position is "neutrality". Unfortunately, this is incorrect; the official position is complicity. We call for the university to commit itself to the suspension of all collaboration with Israeli universities and other institutions where there is a plausible risk of direct or indirect involvement in human rights violations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
We cannot forget how critical international solidarity was in delivering us the freedoms we enjoy today in South Africa.

Zionist occupying forces in Palestine are committing a genocide against the indigenous people who now need help in stopping the ability of the zionists to continue committing atrocities. I urge the University to divest from any financial or economic agreements or contracts put forward by the occupying entity. This will support the action taken by the South African government to take the zionist authorities to the ICJ on the charge of genocide.
Neutrality towards genocide equals hypocritical complicity. And for a South African university, it is a disgrace.
South Africa is built on the belief that humanity is the bedrock of a nation. A public university in South Africa cannot support something that strays so far from our guiding principles
Israel is committing atrocities against a population that's ~48% children. People need to speak out, and a university that values sincerity and human life should take a stance
