Utah is currently in a dire situation regarding water, and The Great Salt Lake is set to fall to irreversible levels within the next 3-5 years due to excessive water usage. This would have disastrous economical, health, and ecological impacts. Utah as we know it could become unlivable.

About 65% of all municipal water usage goes to landscaping, which is an unsustainable use of this limited resource. To help save water and make Skyline a more sustainable school, we are proposing that the landscaping of the new school building currently under construction be focused on water wise landscaping, and that existing areas that serve little to no purpose and use large amounts of water be converted to water wise landscaping as well.

Your signature means a ton, and will help create change at Skyline!

We are living in a state that is in a major drought and under a fire watch situation. I feel Skyline should be using drought tolorant, native plants! It can still look amazing and have beautiful spaces for the kids to chill outside during lunch or during interventions. Please consider being water wise!

I attend this school and we went through a rough winter so we have little expendable water and this could help a lot

There are many beneficial uses to the recourses (such as water) in Utah. Municipal, agricultural and industrial uses are all important in a sustainable and thriving Utah. There is a place for watering landscapes for visual appeal, however we also need to face the fact that we live in a desert and so watering lawns and landscaping in a manner inconsistent with that reality is irresponsible. Skyline should set the example for its students and the community when it comes to wise water use.
