We ask Cardiff University to exercise its discretion and grant Home fee status to Zahra Jahangiri, so she can continue her studies and follow her dreams.

As stated in the letter NC00051 from the Senedd dated 12 August 2026, we understand that the University has the power to make exceptions in cases like this. That discretion matters; especially when one decision can shape a student’s future. Zahra should not be held back because of the conflict or her Brit sh nationality if there is a clear and reasonable path for the University to support her.

Granting Home fee status in this case shows that Cardiff University values fairness, equal opportunity, and the promise of students who are committed to learning and who will contribute to the community they study in. Zahra embodies that commitment. 

We therefore call on Cardiff University to recognize the University’s remit to make exceptions, treat Zahra’s case with care, and grant Home fee status.
