Closeness to my property; noise from barking dogs, traffic increasing and onto Sugar Rum Ridge Rd by mistake and no turnaround on SRR road.

Roanoke County's 100-ft setback for commercial kennel facilities (distance from proprty lines) should remain in place to protect adjoining properties from harm. The County voted to change this ordinance without notifying adjoining property owners, effectively silencing their voice. This is an egregious abuse of power and not what our County residents support.

Roanoke County voted to change the long-standing ‘100-ft setback from property lines’ without any notice to adjoining property owners. We now have kennel facilities less than 50 feet from two separate waterways, allowing animal waste to seep in. The noise is a nuisance to over 50 nearby homes. Allowing a commercial kennel in this area brings nothing but harm.

The reduction of the 100 ft setback increases the noise from dogs barking and other Kennel related activities that negatively impacts surrounding neighborhood.

Rural communities are no place for a commercial dog kennel. The increased traffic and noise, plus the environmental impacts on streams and wells adjacent to this proposed kennel are unknown.

I’m a dog lover and own 5 dogs. Nonetheless, I consider even a 100 ft setback insufficient, since kennels are very noisy and odorous. I certainly wouldn’t want a commercial kennel 47’ from MY property!

Roanoke County has imposed real estate tax increases every year since we moved here in 2008. What are we getting in return? Poor government and few services.
We do not want commercial kennels. And might I add, we want some form of code enforcement for junk yards, outdoor storage, dilapidated houses and other violations in south Roanoke. My taxes are sky high but there are eye sores 1/4 mile from my home.

Extremely disheartening for elected officials to change the regulations, without notice, that are designed to protect the citizens of Roanoke county, to accommodate a business, without regards to quality of life and environmental concerns voiced by the community.

Two points- we moved here specifically to be far away from commercial endeavors. It is now being forced on us.
Point two- I specifically oppose the absolute power the Zoning Board is taking by making arbitrary changes to regulations, at will, for the benefit of one person without exploring or considering the concerns and the impact on local residents, the environment or even their own Roanoke County 200 CORE plan. This leaves the impression of a conflict of interest by the Board.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 52 years. Our road is private that we have to maintain. The addional traffic and noise is a major concern.

This absolutely sets a precedent for allowing any business to set up in an "off the beaten path" neighborhood that has previously been private & quiet, with low/local traffic. To live, by choice, this far out of the way of noise/outside traffic, the fact that the rules could be changed for one person/business, is very unsettling when you own a property that you purchased for seclusion, peace, & quiet. If you live/own property in Roanoke county you could be affected in the future if this passes.

It is important in a residential area for individuals to be able to be free of kennel dog barking day and night in order to rest (whether working day, or night). Dog kennels inevitably bring excessive dog barking, which is a major disturbance to ones ability to sleep in preparation for work.
