Ealing council also rejected government help with the cost of implementing the policy of providing a gulley in the pavement. This is very thoughtless of the council and both councils should reconsider their lack of action as damaging potential EV ownership.

We are unable to charge our car outside because the lamppost chargers have been faulty for months. And the council has denied us use of our drive as we live on a bend in the road. So charging from our house across the pavement is the only solution to do our bit for the environment and the net zero targets

I want to buy an EV but charging is expensive if I can’t charge from home.

To save the environment we need to go electric for transport. But to charge cars at home without a driveway needs pavement gullys. Richmond are doing it - why isn't Ealing and Hounslow ??

Don’t want raised ramp on pavement making trip hazard & tricky for foot fall children/elderly/wheelchair users/ general public. Sunken gully feels that consideration to pavement users has been given !

I’m thinking of going electric and access to easy inexpensive charging is a factor.

Our next car will be an EV. We are putting off the decision due to a lack of charging facilities in the Bedford Park area. Pavement gullies are unobtrusive in a Conservation area

Have an EV car with limited charging access in Hounslow

I won't buy an EV car until charging is readily available. There are so few post chargers and the chance of finding one not already being used is so slim.

This two tier system of charging, one for those with off street parking and another far more expensive for others is unreasonable and inconvenient. Gullies are a sensible way forward and will be a positive move towards net zero.

Have no access to off street parking from home and alternatives very expensive and impracticable.

Very soon I hope to purchase an electric car and I am all in favour of charging my car from my home

This would open up EV ownership to a large number of borough residents for whom it is currently not a practical choice. This would lead to a huge improvement in air quality in our area.

Sooner or later it is inevitable that home charging via gullies will be allowed as EV ownership grows. Hounslow have the chance to lead and be progressive in supporting EV ownership and ensuring it is affordable for all.

Common sense to allow those of us without off-street parking to charge from home
