We, the undersigned, respectfully appeal to filmmakers, producers, casting directors, and all concerned authorities to uphold the sanctity and dignity of Hindu deities, especially Prabhu Shri Ram, while casting actors for such revered roles.
Lord Shri Ram is regarded by millions of Hindus not merely as a mythological or fictional character, but as Maryada Purushottam—the ideal embodiment of truth, righteousness, self-discipline, devotion, and moral character. The individual portraying such a divine personality should reflect values that do not fundamentally contradict the ideals associated with the role.
Actors who have built their public image through films containing explicit sexual content, vulgarity, or other mature themes, or whose public persona is associated with conduct that many devotees believe conflicts with the values represented by Lord Shri Ram, should not be cast in the role of Shri Ram or other Hindu deities.
Celebrities are among the most influential role models for today's youth. Millions of young people admire, imitate, and follow actors not only for their performances on screen but also for their personal lifestyles, fashion, relationships, and public behaviour. Casting an actor whose public image is seen by many devotees as inconsistent with the virtues of Shri Ram can diminish the spiritual significance of the character for believers and send confusing messages to impressionable audiences.
This petition is not intended to judge or interfere with the personal freedoms of any individual. Every actor has the right to choose the films they wish to make and the lifestyle they wish to lead. However, devotees also have the right to express that the portrayal of deeply revered religious figures should be handled with the utmost sensitivity and respect.
Therefore, we respectfully demand that:
Actors portraying Lord Shri Ram and other Hindu deities should possess a public image that aligns with the dignity, discipline, and moral values associated with these sacred figures.
Film producers and casting directors should consult religious scholars, cultural experts, and representatives of the Hindu community before finalising casting for such roles.
Commercial interests should never take precedence over the religious sentiments of millions of devotees.
The entertainment industry should adopt greater sensitivity and responsibility while depicting Hindu gods and sacred scriptures.
We urge all devotees who share these concerns to peacefully express their views through lawful and democratic means, including choosing not to support films they believe fail to respect the sanctity of Hindu beliefs.
