Kawanthissa was no ordinary elephant, but one of the largest tuskers Sri Lanka has ever had, a rare and extraordinary elephant. The treatment administered by wildlife veterinarian Isuru led to this powerful elephant becoming weak and dying within a very short period. This is a national crime, and all those responsible must receive severe punishment.

I am signing this petition to demand justice for Kavantissa and accountability for the failures that led to his tragic death. This must not be treated as just another incident and forgotten. Those responsible must be held accountable and the Wildlife Department must take responsibility for its actions and ensure that such negligence never happens again.
