Justice for Kawanthissa – Demand an Independent Investigation
I strongly condemn the alleged negligence in the treatment of Kawanthissa, one of Sri Lanka’s largest elephants, who sadly died on 16 October 2026 after being shot.
I call upon the Government and the Department of Wildlife Conservation to conduct an independent and impartial investigation into his treatment and death, disclose all relevant medical records and findings, and hold those responsible accountable if negligence is establishe
