"Kawanthissa" is one of the giant, iconic symbols of our wildlife and our hearts. I was worried when I heard he was missing nearly 4 months ago, but when he arrived like the summer sun on a clear day, I was overjoyed. However, when I saw him with a gunshot wound, I was furious at the humans who did this. I thought he would be fine, but unfortunately, he has left us. It is very heartbreaking news for me. Today is my birthday, but this is one of the worst days of my life.

King Kawantissa needs justice. That’s all I care about. The tusker was not dead but murdered. As a Sri Lankan I demand justice for him.
