Name: Donna Ross on Jul 9, 2008Comments: As a transgender woman, I find Dr. Zucker's theories and treatments regarding gender identity issues to be wrongly based. Zucker continues the pre-conceived notions that, despite substantial evidence to the contrary, GID in adolescents can be "redirected" - one quote cited it being "maleable". Properly identified people, regardless of age, who are experiencing GID can and do lead most happy, healthy lives by transitioning. Zucker wishes to deny, or make extraordinarily rare, this positive approach to our lives.Flag

Name: Kari Sparks on Jul 9, 2008Comments: Dr. Kenneth Zucker is causing great harm to children. The most recent research shows his methods and theories to be absolutely without merit. Not to mention that most psychology professionals disagree with his "reparitive/conversion" treatment regarding kids with GID.Flag

He is another Pyschoterorrist who abuses his position and distorted beliefs to ruin the lives of people he has never met nor never will. His coding is ID-Ten-T and all ID10T's should be banned from such supposedly responsible positions as the ASA and RSM.Flag

APA needs to reconsider Dr. Zucker position on the committee and replace him wtih someone who is better positioned to give the issue a comprehensive, fair, and open hearing. My request would seem to be in the common interest of APA.Flag

Name: Curtis E. Hinkle on Jul 9, 2008Comments: Zucker's views about gender identity are frightening to many intersex people because they justify arbitrary sex assignments without any input from the child. And if the intersex child rejects the assignment, the child will probably be labeled as having a fetish (such as autogynephilia) or being homosexual and wanting to have lots of sex with the "same" sex (since intersex doesn't really exist in Zucker's world. We are all of disordered sex according to him). Very offensive to many intersex people.Flag

Name: Dr.Wal Torres, MSc, Ph.D on Jul 9, 2008Comments: Dr.Zucker is still based on old - really XIXth century concepts, as did John Money in the near past with terrible results. We need a new science to consider so complex matters as gender identity formation dynamics. We need XXIst science, and never old and problematic concepts.Flag

He is behind the times and biased, and has no place in such an esteemed conference. He has nothing but outdated and flawed information to offer. There are many other much more qualified professionals in the field.Flag
