I strongly support this petition, as a trans man, a community worker, and an immigrant I find it offensive that Dr. Zucker is allowed to even practice. |

Not only are his theories not based on empirical fact, but his arrogance regarding his importance are wholly inflated beyond measure. Not only does it replicate those colonialist ideologies of power and dictatorship, but his rationale for the suppression of the exploration and expansion of gender identity is down right hypocritical. If Dr. Zucker can recognize that the ‘dysfunctional family’ has an impact on a child’s identity than it wouldn’t be a stretch for Dr. Zucker to realize that gender identitiy is a social construction, one which is based on anatomical representation. Man made up what a boy is. Man made up what a girl is. Thus, because the identities of boys and girls have been historically and socially constituted and reconstituted, they are but only arbitrary definitions of an indefinable phenomenon. Dr. Zucker’s work, in my opinion, needs to be seriously evaluated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). |
