Natacha kennedy | I believe this man's methods are repulsive and harmful to transgendered children and adolescents and that his presence at this conference damages the reputation of the Royal Society of Medicine

Pig | We use the social model of disability don't we? How about the social model of gender then? If a young person is more functional and less stressed if they change their gender, what on earth is wrong with that?

Lizzy | I think it's absolutely ridiculous that he was invited. He does a lot more harm than good to transgendered children...in fact he doesn't do any good.
Josh Minor | This mans approach represents a backwards step in the evolution of our society and it's psychological understanding
Elis Stephenson |
Erin Bone | Transgender kids should be able to express themselves however they want. They're not harming anyone. Zucker's ideas of using aversion therapy to attempt to 'cure' transgendered children will only damage those children psychologically and make them feel as though they are somehow 'bad' or 'wrong' for possessing transgender feelings.

Anna | This man is disgusting and should have his medical license revoked.
Grace Hunter | From the reports I have read of this rather egocentric person, who does not seem to accept others points of view regarding trans people, I regard him as a danger to free thinking people throughout the world, and should not be considered a responsible speaker at this conference. I consider his views to be utterly repugnant and I'm just glad not to be within the realm of his influence.

Fionn Greig | This would be like inviting Robert Mugabe to speak at a Human Rights Conference. Just don't.
Kathleen Thompson |
Roz kaveney |
Mark Rodgers | I believe Zucker's views are harmful and misleading. At best, I feel that Zucker has nothing meaningful to contribute to informed debate on this subject. At worst, if allowed to air his views this could incite hatred against the transgendered community.

Anonymous | I am a medical doctor with a particular interest in this field as I am myself transgendered. Dr Zucker's theories and methodology strike me as being deeply suspect. His treatment of transgendered adolescents is at best dubious, and at worst barbaric; reminiscent of standards psychiatry should have outgrown decades ago.

kai Cain | This needs to stopped!
Katie | I played with supposedly *boys'* toys and I still grew up to be transgendered, Mr Zucker:)

Jess Fishenden | This person should never be allowed in a position where he advises on trans treatment policy. He is in clear opposition to the majority of experts on the matter.
clairec | Never heard of this guy until yesterday. Just spent 2 hours reading background info. Gosh, this person has it wrong, not just a little wrong, just totally wrong. I'm a very open-minded person, not easily offended, but reading about this person has upset me. Why is this person allowed to practise in this day and age, and furthermore, why is he being invited to speak on them. Please have a re-think RSM.

Steph Jones | It is bad enough that Zucker has been invited onto the committee for the next DSM, but his antiquated and damaging attitudes towards gender identity and transpeople should not be entertained by the Royal Society of Medicine.

Michael DC | a proportion of young people who present transgender behaviour and feelings will be trans and others gay. They will discover what they are without interference. Despite Dr Zucker's claim to "client-centred approach" his words: "For younger clients, therapy options include helping the child to overcome discomfort with his or her body, i.e., helping clients learn to live comfortably in their natal sex." say it all. He claims not to be a reparative therapy practitioner! Words have meanings Dr Zucker! Client Centred therapists (I am one) believe that the client is the expert.
Christina Alley | Dr Zucker's, out of date views on trans people are offensive, prejudiced and disempowering to trans people. The vast majority of gender specialists are opposed to his views regarding the diagnosis and treatment of trans people. Please do not give his views credibility in this country by inviting him to address the Royal Society of Medicine. The experts we have in this country are far better respected internationally..
| 42 | Joanne McKillop | Zucker's barbaric methods cause nothing but misery. I've read and heard accounts of children treated by him and I cried just from reading and hearing about it, I can only imagine how much those kids are suffering. He cannot be allowed to have any influence over the treatment of Gender Dysphoria in this country.
