Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated held its first Boule (convention) in 1920 with our brothers, the Men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated at Howard University in Washington, DC. In 2014, Phi Beta Sigma will be celebrating their Centennial, a similar momentous occasion, in the city of our joint founding, Washington, D.C.
As the constitutionally bound sisters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated we, the members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. should be celebrating this milestone with them. As it stands right now, we will be in Florida for our 2014 Boule.
Convening our Boule in Washington, D.C. as our brothers commemorate 100 years of Culture for Service & Service for Humanity is the honorable, and duteous, thing to do.
Our brother of Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity, Inc. described our fraternal/sororal bond as:
"Those within or outside of the Blue & White family always seem to get hung up on one issue in particular when it comes to Sigma and Zeta, that is, 'How does the bond shared between Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta stand out from the bonds that are claimed by other Black Greek Lettered Organizations?' Well, we do have a reason to love and respect our Sorors as we LOVE and respect our Brothers. We have a common history, which must be at least recognized and acknowledged before one can truly be called a Sigma or Zeta. The Zeta Phi Beta Sigma bond gives me, a brother of Sigma, the ability to love my Sorors as I love myself and all of mine."
Let us extend the same respect and love for our organizations and the Founders who believed in our bond, together in Washington, D.C. in 2014.
