We, the undersigned, would like to bring the problems regarding Salt Lake County Planning & Development Application #27955 to your attention.  The American Legion Post #112 filed an application to open the entrance off of 300 East between 3935 and 3947 South.  We are gravely concerned about the use of the land as a thoroughfare and adamantly oppose this.  First, there are a lot of pedestrians (many of them are children) on 300 East, which is not well lit.  There are a lot of vehicles that travel on this section of 300 East, sometimes at high rates of speed.  Having cars driving onto 300 East from this thoroughfare will inevitably cause serious injuries and eventually a fatality.  Secondly, we are opposed to a place of business doing business in the middle of a residential zone.  Lastly, the idea of allowing drivers, who may have been drinking alcohol, to leave a bar and drive directly into a residential neighborhood is a major safety concern. The American Legion already has a convenient and viable entrance/exit that leads drivers directly onto 3900 South (a busier and more suitable road such purposes). This is a serious public safety concern and we ask that you do not approve Application #27955.
