we actually did it and akfen confirmed they are giving up on the dam construction. i cant even begin to thank you all for sticking with this because we really saved the river. let's keep an eye on the area to make sure it stays protected.

In the south of Turkey, the pristine river Yuvarlakcay is being dammed for a hydroelectric plant.The river is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, famous for its fresh water trout with ancient plane trees lining the river. The area is loved by both local people and tourists who come to the ice cold waters in summer. 600 trees have been cut down already to build this dam and people are protesting this unnecessary and short-sighted destruction. This is not sustainable energy. This lovely area is being destroyed. Help the people fight this by signing the petition and passing it on to everyone you know around the world.
Turkiye'nin guneyinde, Mugla ili Koycegiz ilcesinde bulunan Yuvarlakcay'a bir hidroelektrik santral yapilacak. Cay inanilmaz bir dogal guzellige sahip, iki yani asirlik cinarlarla kapli. Yaz boyunca bolgeyi ziyaret eden turisitler bu agaclarin altinda, akan sularin serinligiyle ferahliyor.
