We, the undersigned, support the creation of a green dormitory and community education center in the current York Village on the University campus.   “Green dormitory” means a living space for students that generates a significant portion of its own power, grows much of its own food, reuses and recycles waste products whenever possible, and generates as little waste as possible.   “Community education center” means a place where members of the University community can see sustainable living principles and community democracy in action.   We hereby urge the University of Maine Student Government LLC, the University administration, and the UMS Board of Trustees to support and enable this project to the extent of their respective authorities.
